New Principal Announced for the Bartlett Ninth Grade Academy

Mr. Abraham holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Tennessee at Martin and has been serving as Vice-Principal at Bartlett High School since 2014. His educational experience spans over twenty years where he started as a science teacher and includes being an assistant and vice-principal at the high school level for over eight years.

Dr. David Stephens, Superintendent of Bartlett City Schools, stated, “I am pleased to announce Shannon Abraham as the new principal at the Academy. Shannon’s background and work experience has prepared him for this exciting opportunity. His commitment to student success, understanding of how to support teachers and their work and strong communication skills will serve him well. It has been exciting to watch Shannon develop as a leader and I am certain that he will continue to build on the success of the Academy.”

Mr. Abraham replaces John McDonald, who is retiring from Bartlett City Schools at the end of the current academic year. Mr. McDonald has served forty-one years as an educator with the past six years as the school’s first principal at the Bartlett Ninth Grade Academy. We thank Mr. McDonald for his leadership and the many successes he has overseen since the school’s inception, which include the school being named multiple times as a Reward School by the Tennessee Department of Education and becoming an Apple Distinguished School.
