Parent Instructions
Parents click on the link to the YouTube video featuring the Ms. S song. Parents click on the link to the Starfall.com activity featuring the letter S Parents may choose to print the S "Say it Find it, Read it, Write it" activity or work with their child to complete it by looking at it on the device.
 
Student Instructions
Students should listen and move to Ms. S's song becoming familiar with the sound of the letter s. Students should increase awareness of the letter s sound as they interact with the Starfall.com activity Students will do the following as they complete "Say it, Find it, Read it Write it" activity: Students should listen for the S sound as they say the names of the pictures on the first row. Students should color (or point to)the letter S on the second row. Students should circle (or point to) the letter S on the third row Students should work toward writing the letter S on the fourth row.
 
Learning Opportunity Objective
Students will have the opportunity to become familiar with the letter s and begin to recognize and produce the letter S sound.

Parent Instructions
  • Please see the attached parent letter from iStation to get started.
  • You can use an iPad, android device, or computer to download the software
  • During Step 5 of the set up, you will need to enter your child’s school domain.
  • I have provided the 3 PreK site domains in Red on the right side of the PDF Step by Step. In order for your child to log in, you MUST choose the correct site domain. For example: If your child is in PreK at Bartlett Elementary you will use the bartlett.bartlett.tn domain. **Your child’s teacher will provide you with their individual user name and password that we use at school. Look for these to come to you by April 1st via your communication tool (email, Remind or Class Dojo) Once logged in, they will choose Reading with ISIP.
  • At this point, your child should know how to work through the iStation program.
  • IMPORTANT- During the first log in of every month, the iStation program will “test.” You will know it is testing by the turquoise blue box at the bottom right near the stop sign that says “ISIP in progress”
  • If the “ISIP in progress” box is up, please have your child REMAIN on the program until the box goes away. It can range anywhere from 8-15 minutes but sometimes longer.
  • If the “ISIP in progress” is not up, your child can stay on for 10-15 minutes in order to get a good lesson in. Your child should NOT be on longer than 25- 30 minutes. You will receive your log in usernames and passwords by April 1st from your PreK teacher.
 
Student Instructions
Students will choose Reading with ISIP If ISIP in Progress box displayed in the bottom right corner, please stay on until the box goes away. If ISIP in Progress box is not displayed, please spend about 15 minutes on the program. No More than 25-30 minutes a day.

Students will review letters, letter sounds, reading comprehension, and other ELA skills learned throughout the year.

Or, parents may choose to simply listen to their child retell the story. Parents should ask questions like: What happened first? Why do you think that happened? What would have happened if..?What was your favorite part

Students should listen to the Youtube video of the book Dog's Colorful Day by Emma Dodd. After listening to the video, students should retell the story. (Student may choose to use their crayons and color spots on the blackline dog (provided) while they retell the story.)

Parents should click the link to watch the YouTube Video "I Can Show Numbers In So Many Ways" https://youtu.be/lAQ2HTqTl2w Parents may choose to print the wksht or work alongside their child on a device. Parents will need to either supply dice or access to their phone ("Hey Siri Roll the dice")
 
Student Instructions
Students should roll the die, recognize the dot pattern shown on the die and then find a circle that shows the same number. Students should then color in the corresponding circle. Students should roll the die repeatedly until every circle is filled in.

Students will have an opportunity to recognize sets representing numbers 1-6.

Students can continue the learning by using at home items such as buttons or coins to make sets equal to the number they roll on a die.

Parent Instructions
Parents should ask their child to "count as high as they can". Listen to the child count without prompting. Some children may benefit from following along with the 100s chart while they count. You may also want to use the 100s chart as a way to track your child's progress throughout the week.

Students should begin counting at 1 and count continuously without prompting.

If not, don’t worry, you can modify by writing the number 5 for them and having them trace it and ten try to write it on their own twice. Have the students draw two apples. If apples are too hard, they can draw two of any shape they want! Write out a bunch of numbers on a paper and have them circle the 5s..
