Answer the multiple choice discussion questions at the end (if you read through the book too fast, they will not show up). Writing prompt: Make a list of the characters and where they wanted make believe school to be. Write about which one you agreed with most and tell why you choose this character and place.

Find 5 plants in your yard or at the park (with parents). Using a ruler, piece of yarn, your hand, any tool. Measure the plant and write down how tall it is. Order the plants from shortest to tallest. Draw your own plant that will measure longer than the plants you found in your yard.

Ask your child: How do you scratch an itch you can’t reach? After they give you an answer, tell them that’s what engineers do, they solve problems. Have students watch the youtube video.
