Parent Instructions
Parents should click on the starfall.com link to the letter P activity. Parents may choose to print the P "Say it Find it, Read it, Write it" activity or work with their child to complete it by looking at it on the device. Parents may choose to print the P "Dot the words" activity or work with their child to complete it by looking at it on the device.
 
Student Instructions
Students will do the following as they complete "Say it, Find it, Read it Write it" activity: Students should listen for the P sound as they say the names of the pictures on the first row. Students should color (or point to)the letter P on the second row. Students should circle (or point to) the letter P on the third row Students should work toward writing the letter P on the fourth row. Dot the Word Students should say each word and listen for the initial P sound. Color the words that begin with the letter P.
 
Learning Opportunity Objective
Students will have the opportunity to become familiar with the letter P and begin to recognize and produce the letter sound. Students will also have the opportunity to listen for the p sound as the initial consonant.
 
Comments
Students may want to look around their home for items that begin with the letter P sound.

Students will identify all the letter Ps on the P page. Students will identify words that begin with the letter P and read those words in print in the Letter P Alphabet book.

Parent Instructions
  • Please see the attached parent letter from iStation to get started.
    You can use an iPad, android device, or computer to download the software
  • During Step 5 of the set up, you will need to enter your child’s school domain.
  • I have provided the 3 PreK site domains in Red on the right side of the PDF Step by Step. In order for your child to log in, you MUST choose the correct site domain. For example: If your child is in PreK at Bartlett Elementary you will use the bartlett.bartlett.tn domain. **Your child’s teacher will provide you with their individual user name and password that we use at school. Look for these to come to you by April 1st via your communication tool (email, Remind or Class Dojo) Once logged in, they will choose Reading with ISIP.
  • At this point, your child should know how to work through the iStation program.
    IMPORTANT- During the first log in of every month, the iStation program will “test.” You will know it is testing by the turquoise blue box at the bottom right near the stop sign that says “ISIP in progress”
  • If the “ISIP in progress” box is up, please have your child REMAIN on the program until the box goes away. It can range anywhere from 8-15 minutes but sometimes longer.
  • If the “ISIP in progress” is not up, your child can stay on for 10-15 minutes in order to get a good lesson in. Your child should NOT be on longer than 25- 30 minutes.You will receive your log in usernames and passwords by April 1st from your PreK teacher.
 
Student Instructions
Students will choose Reading with ISIP If ISIP in Progress box displayed in the bottom right corner, please stay on until the box goes away. If ISIP in Progress box is not displayed, please spend about 15 minutes on the program. No More than 25-30 minutes a day.
 
Learning Opportunity Objective
Students will review letters, letter sounds, reading comprehension, and other ELA skills learned throughout the year.

Students should watch The Tiny Seed on YouTube. Students can then watch the informational video on BrainPop Jr. Students may choose to take the "Easy" quiz at the end of the video. Students should draw a picture reflecting any part of the plant life cycle (for example the seed, the roots, the sprout etc)

Students may choose to take the short online quiz at the bottom of the website. Students can draw a picture of a plant and add details that include things a plant needs to grow such as sunlight and water.

Students will observe plants around them and understand what plants need to grow.

If you have seeds at home, allow your child to explore them or even plant them. **If you soak dried beans overnight, they should become soft enough that you can open them and see the "baby plant" inside.

Parents, pull up the provided PDF and print. Have your child color the pictures that show "helping the community" and have the students put an "X" on the pictures that do not help the community. Can't print? No worries! Pull up the PDF on your computer, iPhone, or tablet, and talk about each picture with your student and decide if the people in the picture are helping the community or not.

Students, everyone can help the community be a clean and safe place. Color or talk through each picture that shows people helping the community. If they are not helping, put an "x" on the picture.

Parent Instructions
Parents, visit the link provided or pull up the provided PDF. You will find a coloring book made by St. Jude to help explain the current COVID-19 in child friendly terms. If you are able, print these out and read the pages with your child and allow them to color them. This may help explain what is going on in our world and why things are so different right now. If you cannot print them out, you can read the coloring book on your phone, table, or computer.

Students, this is a very odd time for everyone. We know you may be confused why you cannot come to school or play with your friends. This coloring book will help you understand better. Listen to a family member read it to you. If you can, color in the pictures.
