Parent Instructions
Parents have the voluntary opportunity to allow their child to explore prior learning of main idea through reading a book and playing a game. Parents can choose a book from their home library or access Myon through their child's clever account and select a book from there. After the child reads the book have your child roll a die and answer the question next to the number they rolled in a complete sentence. Continue playing until the child has rolled every number (1-6) and answered each question correctly. This can be done orally or you can have them to write their answers on a piece of paper.

Watch The Moon Video on BrainPOP Jr. Complete project. Materials you will need for the project: Using materials around the house: paper plate, aluminum foil, yarn, string, rubber bands, old hair ties, glue.
 
Student Instructions
Watch the BrainPOP Jr. video on The Moon. Complete short quiz after watching the video. Create your own moon with craters. Glue small pieces of yarn in a circular shape to the paper plate. It will look more realistic if you use materials of differing sizes and thicknesses. Cover the plate with aluminum foil. Smooth over the glued down items to make 3D craters. Fold excess around edge of plate.
