Reading passage/answer key uploaded
Parent Instructions
Please download the attached true story reading passage about Judge Sonia Sotomayor. There are comprehension questions at the end that students can write on notebook paper, or the passage can be printed. The answer key is also included to check the work. At the bottom of the passage is a fun, optional activity for your child to make a dream board as they plan on going into Middle school. All directions are on the bottom. Any supplies from magazine, pictures, printed, or drawn can be used.

After reading the true story reading passage about Judge Sonia Sotomayor. You can print off the passage and questions, or you can write out your answers on notebook paper. Your parents have the answer key to check your answers. This story is very inspirational! YOU can have dreams and ideas of what you want to be when you grow up. At the bottom of the passage is a fun, optional activity. You can make a dream board!! Look at all the cool things you might want to do, places to go, food to eat, clothes to buy or new experiences you want to experience in Middle or even High school. Your teacher would love to see a picture of it on your Seesaw page or email it to them.

1.Allow and assist your student in accessing the video for review then the website for topic options. 2. Allow and assist your student in printing the essay diagram. 3. Provide feedback as needed on the diagram and encourage your student to "really try to convince you of ..." 4. Provide a listening ear and acknowledge when your student uses this skill in everyday life.

Parent Instructions
Allow student to watch the video on coordinate graphing in the first quadrant (positive numbers only.) Students will then create a mystery picture by graphing the points on the blank grid and connecting them with lines. When finished, a mystery picture will be revealed. **You will need access to a printer to be able to complete the graph part of the lesson!**
 
Student Instructions
With a parent's permission, watch the video to recall how to place coordinates on a graph. Remember coordinates come in pairs to represent the X axis (horizontal) and the Y axis (vertical) separated by a comma. For example to graph (9,7) you would go over on the X axis 9 and up on the vertical axis 7. The dot goes where the point meets! After the video, try completing the mystery picture by graphing the points in order from the list and connecting them until you reach a STOP. Then stop connecting and start a new set to connect together. When finished you will have a picture to color!

Using the attached Studies Weekly, Exploring Our Solar System, your child will need to read the newspaper containing information about objects found in space, how they were discovered, and the tools that can be used to identify those celestial bodies. As your child reads, have them to highlight or list characteristics used to describe each new celestial body (planets and other objects found in space) listed. Then your child will need to complete the crossword puzzle and the Label the Objects section. Next, they can use their highlighted or list of characteristics, to complete the PDF of the Planet Match activity.

Clever Account- Social Studies weekly week 10
Parent Instructions
Parents, your child should go to Clever and choose Social Studies Weekly. Once there, choose the Grade 5 icon and then go to week 10. Students should read the articles for the week, or they may choose to have it read to them. After they have finished reading, there is a quiz to check for understanding. Please see the attached PDF. There are other worksheets available that students may work on to check for understanding.

Please log in to Clever and choose Social Studies Weekly. Once there, click on the Grade 5 icon and then go to week 10. Please read the articles for the week, or you may choose to have it read to you. After you have finished reading, there is a quiz that you may take to check your understanding. Your child can watch a fun video about the Harlem Renaissance on Flocabulary.If your teacher has given you access information for Flocabulary, complete the activities of your choice on this website. There is also a sheet above that you can print for your child to color using bold, bright colors like those of the Harlem Renaissance.
 
 
Parents will need to create a free Brain Pop account unless your school already has access. Students will watch a video and do related activities on the website. They will post one completed activity on their Seesaw page.
 
Student Instructions
You will click on the Flocabulary video and watch the clip on the Harlem Renaissance.  If your teacher has given you login information for Flocabulary, log into your account. Once logged in, type "Harlem Renaissance" in the search bar. Watch the video and then you may choose which activities to do on the left side of the screen (Vocab Cards, Vocab Game, Read & Respond, Quiz, and/or Lyric Lab). There is also a file above with a coloring sheet you may print and color in using the bright, bold colors like those of the Harlem Renaissance (blue, red, yellow, green, etc.).
 
You will also be reviewing the Harlem Renaissance: What was it? How did it impact American culture in the 1920s and later? Log in to Brain Pop and click on this link: https://www.brainpop.com/socialstudies/ushistory/harlemrenaissance/ or find the topic "Harlem Renaissance." Watch the video and then take the quiz to check your knowledge. Then click on the Challenge activity and choose whether you want to do it as a Review or a Graded activity. Choose an additional activity to complete and post on Seesaw when you finish: Vocabulary, Worksheet, Graphic Organizer or play the game- Time Zone X. You can take a screen shot of your completed work or print it out and take a picture of your work to post it.

Write a paragraph explaining which New Deal program you think was the most helpful to Americans recovering from the Great Depression. 4. Pick one of FDR's New Deal programs & create an advertisement for it. You can design a poster, a pamphlet, or create a commercial - whatever form you choose! Feel free to send your ad to your teacher on SeeSaw or through email.
