Parent directions: Writing Prompt: Parents, we want this to be a fun assignment for our students! By this time in the school year, we want most of our 4th grade students writing 3 or more paragraphs per prompt. However, some students will desire to write more (AWESOME!) and some students may only want to write one as writing is their least favorite thing to do (This is okay, too!). This can be typed or hand written. If your student in particular struggles to get their thoughts from their head to the paper/computer, feel free to let them tell you orally. And, if you have the time while they are telling you orally, you can write it or type it for them. Another strategy for our students who struggle to get started: have them write just a part of a time. You can “chunk” it into pieces as small/big as needed. Encourage our students to make this FUN! :-) Editing: You are welcome to print this worksheet or have your student jot down their answers on paper. There is a separate PDF that provides the answers so that you can check their work.

Writing: Students have fun with this writing prompt! We want you to write at least 3 paragraphs, but you are welcome to write more! Don't forget to 1) indent each paragraph, 2) include an introduction/hook sentence, 3) include a concluding sentence, and 4) stay on topic. Remember, if you feel overwhelmed, just do it a little piece at a time! You can do it! Editing: Read the directions and the paragraph carefully. Then, answer each of the editing questions. Have your parents check your work when you are finished.
