Download the attached article: “Toys or Treasures” (pdf is attached). Students should read the article. , then think about the ideas presented in these two texts. Then they should write a personal narrative about an object that is very valuable to them such as a toy. They will describe the object, how they got it, and what makes it worth a lot to them. (Remind them to include a strong topic sentence.) Once the finish their narrative, have them watch the Brainpop video “Strengthening Sentences.” https://www.brainpop.com/english/writing/strengtheningsentences/ Lastly, have the student proofread their writing and strengthen any sentences that are unclear or contain errors in grammar or spelling. Have them share their final draft with a family member.

The grid will help students keep the numbers lined up. Students can complete the assignments by downloading the worksheet or recording their responses on notebook paper.
